Eat Chili for Charity; Local Chefs go Head to Head with their Beer-based Chili

Did you miss Sunday’s Rockabilly Chili contest — or are you ready for another round of chili? Either way, you’re in luck as the Milwaukee Special Olympics Young Professional Board is preparing to host  “Chili Brew,” a chili cook off and beer tasting fundraiser this Saturday from 5:30 to 8:30 pm at the Milwaukee Public Market.

Bragging rights are on the line, as distinguished Milwaukee Chefs pair up with local breweries to craft special chili concoctions made from Milwaukee’s most famous beverage – beer.  Dishes and pairings will be provided by numerous partners including Sprecher Brewery, Water Buffalo, St. Francis Brewery, Big Bay Brewery, and Horny Goat Brewing Co.

“The event will be a great opportunity to sample chili from some of the best chefs throughout Milwaukee,” said Lauren Lazzara, volunteer for Milwaukee’s Special Olympics Young Professionals Board. “We’re really excited to bring the Milwaukee community together and to taste what these chefs bring to the table.”

Two awards will be given for the best chili; crowd favorite and judge’s choice. The winner for the judge’s choice award will be chosen from a panel of Special Olympics of Wisconsin athletes and local Milwaukee media.

Attendees can enjoy live entertainment by Ida Jo and The Show and participate in a silent auction as well. Auction items include;

  • $600 Southwest Airlines Gift Card
  • SkyDive Milwaukee Gift Certificate
  • Milwaukee Bucks tickets
  • Milwaukee Admiral tickets
  • Mt. Olympus Water Park tickets

Tickets are currently on sale for $15.  Admission at the door will be $18. To purchase tickets or find out more information about Milwaukee “Chili Brew,” contact Brandon Tanner at 262-241-7786 ext. 14 or email btanner@specialolympicswisconsin.org.

All proceeds benefit Special Olympics Wisconsin-Greater
