The owners of Ryan Braun’s Graffito (Graffito) in Milwaukee’s Third Ward have announced Monday, April 4 as the official grand opening, the same day as the Milwaukee Brewers first home opener.

After months of planning and long hours redesigning the interior, developing and testing a new menu, and training staff, SURG Restaurant Group (SURG), owners of Graffito, have everything in place to introduce the new look and dining experience to the public.

“When we decided the direction for Graffito, we knew it was going to take a lot of work to get it done but we also knew we had the right group to make it happen,” said SURG owner Mike Polaski. “From the minute our guests step into Graffito, it will feel like nothing else in the city and that goes for the menu as well. If someone is looking for an all-around unique dining experience, then we’ll see you at Graffito.”

When entering Graffito, guests will instantly be taken by the artwork which was designed and painted by Milwaukee native and local artist, Fred Kaems. Using vibrant colors and themes from the city, the murals set the tone for the restaurant: a modern spin on a classic Italian ambiance. “I wanted the guest to be part of a fun and lively place, but also feel relaxed and comfortable while they are enjoying their meals,” said Kaems.

The menu, developed by executive chef Dominic Zumpano’s, has a range of Italian cuisine from small plated gnocchi and Carpaccio, to pasta dishes of linguini with clams or bigger plated dishes such as New York Rossini. Items will feature the best available artisan products, as well as locally raised cattle and grown produce. Pastry chef Kurt Fogel has created a dessert menu exclusive to Graffito.

The bar, which will feature eight tap beers, seven Wisconsin beers including Ale #8 specially brewed for Graffito by Lakefront Brewery. The bar will also offer a full selection of spirits and a wine list featuring 40 wines with an Italian sensibility and that can be wonderfully paired with selected menu items.

“The opening of Graffito has been a long time coming and we are excited to finally present the finished product to the people of Milwaukee,” said SURG owner Omar Shaikh “I think they will agree it was worth the wait and we’re not done. We know people will anxiously be waiting for the patio to open, which we’re expecting to be closer to May. We’ve got a few special things planned for the patio this year which will really make it the place to go after work or to just hang out with a group of friends.”

Graffito’s dining area seats 120 and also features a private dining room for 40 and has seating in bar area for 80. The restaurant will be open seven days a week with dinner served from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 9 p.m. on Sunday. Beginning April 8, lunch will be served Friday-Sunday from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

SURG owners would like to remind guests that gift cards under the previous ownership will be honored at Ryan Braun’s Graffito.
