The East Town Association’s lunchtime Food Truck Fridays at Cathedral Square Park is on hiatus this week because of Bastille Days which runs today through Sunday.
Saturday’s East Town Market at Cathedral Square will also be closed this weekend.
Both events will resume normal schedules next week.
Construction is underway for The Bartolotta Restaurants newest concept, The Rumpus Room, a gastro pub which will combine unique flavors, an expansive selection of craft beers and a casual atmosphere located at 1030 N. Water Street.
The Rumpus Room will take over the site of Eagan’s restaurant which closed this past May.
The Bartolotta Restaurants owner, Joe Bartolotta, recalls fond memories of lively gatherings and the energetic atmosphere of his fathers tavern.
The new pubs name, The Rumpus Room, was inspired by the tavern Joe’s father established and ran for nine years, in the mid 1950s and early 1960s at 29th St. and North Ave. The name Rumpus Room means a place where people come together for entertainment, fun, camaraderie and recreation.
My dad provided inspiration for my work with The Bartolotta Restaurants and opening The Rumpus Room is one way we can pay tribute to his influence on our organization and the community. said Joe Bartolotta.
The new gastro pub is an opportunity to embrace a casual dining experience that combines your favorite restaurant and bar, unites them together with elements of reasonably priced quality food in a comfortable bar environment.
The group will lean on the experience of a few of their current distinguished chefs to extend an already expansive array of culinary offerings. Under the direction of Paul Bartolotta and Corporate Chef Adam Siegel, Bacchus Chef de Cuisine, Andrew Ruiz, will take the role as Executive Chef of The Rumpus Room.
The Rumpus Room is set to open in Fall, 2011.

Well I am happy to report that an exact replica of the sign has been installed.

Wisconsin supper clubs have been a dining tradition for generations, but as corporate chains increase, are these family owned establishments fading away or will they find a resurgence with their unique identities and scenic locations?
Wisconsin Supper Clubs – An Old Fashioned Experience shows why supper clubs are such a big part of Wisconsin’s food culture and the full experience of supper club dining: a brandy old fashioned sweet at the bar, relish trays at the table, huge portions of steaks, seafood and game, and the friendly, loyal customers who have been dining at their favorite places for so many years.
The “World Premiere” of the film will be held at the Times Cinema this Sunday, April 17, 2011 at 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM. The documentary runs 60 minutes and there will be a Q&A session with the film’s director Ron Faiola at each show. Tickets are $8 and are available through the Times Cinema. DVDs with bonus footage will be available at the shows.
